[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Spur-wing plovers are common water birds in south eastern Australia.

They are solemn-looking birds, usually seen scurrying about in pairs, searching for small insects.

These birds are very territorial, protective of their area.

This image is a collage of three images. One original image was cloned and slightly modified to produce two of the final images.

The photos were removed from their backgrounds, resized, then layered to provide the required composition.

A rough pastel effect was then applied, followed by two passes of USM to achieve the desired effect.

Two seperate borders were applied prior to the image being re-sized.

belle composition. On dirait vraiment un dessin au crayon de couleur. L'effet est très réussi. Bravo!

Hi, Peter--
Excellent post-processing on this. It almost looks like it could be embroidered needlework. Very nice.

Good looking birds, and the effects you have chosed is well suited here. Nice results Peter. Thanks

DAM

The thumbnail is very eye-catching, and they look like 3 little portly old men in their tuxedos...LOL!
The are very cute birds, nice and round and with great colouring and those long spindly legs made for wading and scurrying about. The effect of the pastel filter makes them look like a drawing. Very effective. The only thing that I might have done differently is to move the birds down a tad, so that the feet of the front bird are about at the halfway mark from their current position to the frame, leaving a tad more headroom also. I would do a workshop but I wouldn't be able to replicate the framing that you did. The framing is very nice and suits very much the 'drawing' effect of the photo.
Well done.

I like the post processing you did on these birds. It looks very effective and just like a painting. My only comment would be to clone out the small black marks on the white are of the background. It's only a small thing, but I noticed them. Nice idea to clone one of the birds to make a threesome scene. Well done Peter.

They look like they are sewn on...

Very different post and I like it - TFS. Tim

Good treatment, Peter. The white background works very well. Great job!
