[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Buchan is a small community 360km north east of Melbourne.

Near the township, a number of caves which contain spectacular limestone formations are located within the Buchan Caves Reserve.

The caves were formed by underground rivers cutting through limestone rock. The formations are created by rain water seeping through cracks and dissolving some of the limestone. As each droplet comes through the roof it deposits calcite which crystallises in a small ring.

In time, stalactites are formed on the roof of the cave, and stalagmites build up from droplets which fall to the floor. (Information taken from: parkweb.vic.gov.au)

This photo was taken handheld, using artificial lighting within the Royal Cave. It shows our guide for the tour (consisting of about 25 people) waiting for the rest of the group to arrive at one of the chambers inside the cave.

A beautiful image, good colorful excellent composition. Congratulations for your work and thanks to share it with all we. We waited for more photos yours like this.

Very Australian pose! "Couldn't give a monkeys/bored to tears" or is it "Come on you lazy beggars, I haven't got all day!" I see that he's brought his xylophone with him.

Nah, really nice, cobber! Cobbler? Cobblers? The silhouette is key and he's in a provocative pose.
Frame - debatable but not offensive.

Hi Peter

I like the silhouette of the budding speliologist. Excellent sharpness & color. Congratulations!

beautiful shot, mate

The way it presented, i like it. A mysterious shadow into the cave of earth.. And were is that stairway lead? Another mistery! I like it!

Très beau contre-jour, dans une très belle lumière.
Marie

Excellent exposure Peter, something I have never achived in some of the caves I have been in. Great colours, great subject. TFS

Nice picture,Peter! Beautiful silhouette and nice colors! I would have personally cropped the image on the verical side in order to have the silhouette fall on the right third of the image...just my opinion! Best regards! Michel

Impressive shot, very nice idea and well executed. I like the silhouette contrasting with the cave's background, and the nice simple presentation.
Vassilis

I like the light and the silhouette.
In combination with the cave.
Real nice photo in difficult conditions
Ruud
