This is Victoria's biggest reservoir which is one of Melbourne's main supply drinking water. The dam was completed in 1983 and is the largest earth and rock fill dam in the Southern Hemisphere, with a dam walling 165 metres high.
Before the comletion date, we were allowed to go to the bottom of this "lake" and I actually touched the bottom end of this tower.
Early 1990's, we went to visit this dam and the resersoir had its full capacity. We went to this dam early this month (Jun 2008) and the photo shows its marks, which is around 18% of its capacity.
We definitely need more rain this Winter.
