Melbourne - Brunswick Street

I have post-processed this photo to make it look rougher!

When we were planning to go to Melbourne, Australia, we were told to go to Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, so we did.

Brunswick Street is a popular place to do a bit of shopping with plenty of specialty boutiques and vintage clothing stores mixed in between funky record shops and retro furniture stores.

They say we can be Bohemian, poor, rich, alternative, trendy, young or old. So my daughter and I walked up and down Brunswick Street by foot, that is after getting lost getting there by tram. . . but we bought nothing, as we found the shops just too funky and dusty. Maybe we weren’t Bohemian, poor, rich, alternative, trendy, young or old enough!

But I can really recommend a great friendly café/ restaurant – idibidi. I had the BEST Caesar Salad I have ever tasted there.

This photo hasn’t come out too good, but it was taken from idibidi, looking through the window to the old building across the road.

I think Dawn would have loved the old textures on many of the ancient buildings. It looks a bit rough, but it certainly was quite an experience to visit.

Good job on it, Janice.

Hi Janice,

I'd forgotten all about Brunswick Street! I like the PP work which you gave it. Good PP work! The rough effect really matches the run down building in the background. Not to mention that blonde lady. She seems like she just woke up!!
If I'm around there, I'll try and go to that cafe/restaurant.

Well seen & composed
Costas

Good urban picture.I like the people dress in modern with the old building behind.Very impressive.Good shot.

Ah let me loose in Brunswick Street...lol..that building across the road there Janice.. seems really interesting.. Hope you got some more shots of it... and just look at that reflection in the top right window, did you notice that?.. a close up of that could have been interesting for photo club next time..(set subject..Reflections)

Interesting photo Janice, one really gets the feel of the place, with your PP work.. well done.. and glad to read you enjoyed your meal there..Costas you gotta go there man!!...

Cheers Dawn.

Hi Janice,
Very good,
I like the color variety.
It seems it has an effect.
Nice,like others.
And your notes always are interesting for me.
Thanks...
Ali.

Thanks for the 'Welcome back' Janice. It's nice to see you again as well. I've now left Western Australia and guess where I am living? Melbourne !! I haven't had the pleasure yet of visiting Brunswick St. yet, but will make a point of it soon I think.
Here it is nice to see you have the street name in the photo as well. It means so much more, otherwise it could be any street. I also like the effect here, it surpasses the norm. As for the 'rough and ready', the buildings also look that way :-)
Well Captured !!
Barry.

You have already provided the exact location of this photo Janice. the oversharpened effect here works well. nicely seen.

You definiteley had a good look around Janice. One of the older working class areas of Melbourne and originally the home of the Fitzroy Lions AFL team who now play out of Brisbane. Good PP work highlights the rundown building well. TFS,
David
