Moet & Chandon's Vines

This was the last winery we visited on our Great Aussy Wine Tour, and what a great place to finish our tour. We had a guided tour through the winery and were shown how the wine is made before we were given a glass of Australia's best bubbly with some bread and cheeses to nibble on, while overlooking this spectacular view.

We are at Domaine Chandon, Moet & Chandon's Australian production house for the French Champagne’s company at Green Point. This place had wonderful views over the Yarra Valley, Victoria's most visited wine region. I like how its green landscape is framed by the majestic hills and mountains of the Great Dividing Ranges in the background.

Domaine Chandon was established in 1986 by Moët & Chandon to produce high quality sparkling and still wines that reflect in their aromas, flavours and structure the Australian terroir in which they are grown.

Yarra Valley has some of the most beautiful countryside in Victoria. Distant blue ranges, rolling hills strung with vines, towering trees, and fertile valleys with rivers make up the spectacular scenery.

‘Green Point’, is in the heart of the Yarra Valley, where Green Point sparkling and Green Point still wines are produced.

It is named ‘Green Point’ because in the 1850’s the early settlers of the Yarra Valley observed that, each year, as summer advanced and the grass turned straw colour, this property remained green longer than any other. The reason for this is that the ancient alluvial soils at Green Point are deep and therefore retain moisture well into the summer. These soils combined with the Yarra Valley’s cool climate, define a site with ideal ‘terroir’ for growing wine grapes.

Hi Janice, This is a good realistic panarama of this lovely part of the world. Your note, as always is highly informative and interesting. The Yarra Valley along with the Barossa Valley in South Australia and the Hunter Valley in NSW are all enjoyed for their wine and all good to visit. TFS. Murray.

Very informative note, tfs! your photograph has great sharpness and the different layers of the vines, trees, mtn range and clouds make for a very interesting composition. great job!

Hi Janice,
such a beautiful view, I like this shot very much, also the format, thanks

Hello Janice,
Ah - a famour wine tour was the reason for Kiwis to visit Australia. Not a bad idea.
If you ever come to Germany I can show you some really nice place within 1 hours drive from Frankfurt Airport. It is called Rheinhessen and has lots of little villages living in and from growin wine for centuries. Nice compo and framing in your post. Compehensive note. TFS Thomas

Hi Janice,
Very beautiful photo with these lines of vines leading us to this superb landscape in the back with these mountains. Very well done.
Regards.
Luc

Like the wine like the view

I like the different blue colours in the mountains. The clouds add a dramatic effect. Good contrast with green grass and the vineyard that is ready for a new cycle of growing wonderful bubbly. Must say I'm very common, prefer the sweeter sparkling wines to the real champagne.

Hello Janice,

Lovely view of that part of Victoria. I can't say that I visited that particular winery, back in the 70's I was more into the ports. Good POV with the diagonal of the grass in the foreground and the opposite diagonals of the trellising and a fine view of the 'Divide'. TFS,
David
Many thanks for your comment on
Pondering

The troop numbers about 30 Janice. They have a large enclosure which I believe cost somewhere in the vicinity of $750,000 to build. Lots of rocks, waterfalls and little creeks for them to swim in.

Hello Jancie
Again one of your super shots! TFS and I like it
John

Wonderful 'low' view; as if taken from the grass. I love the alternating seeing lines through the 'vines' (dicionary word).
I count 6 piled layers of different landscape textures in a very panoramic view; astonishing Janice. Good work again. The wine farmer can stick this around the bottle.

This is a beauty. Just look at those mountains in the bg, stunning! And the clouds just nudging the top of them.
A lovely shot Janice, and I hope you enjoyed the bubbly, what a treat!

Scenery and geometries well seen. TFS. K2

Hello Janice,
great pov, colors, scenery and sharpness.
I thought that the grape for champagne could only be grown in a Champagne region near Paris.
Hm...........
Regards Caesar

Lovely landscape shot - great contrast in the colours and really sharp details. I like the feeling of there being the 5 distinct layers to this picture.
Thanks for sharing
