Sunshade at Federation Square

Another photo from my trip to Melbourne last week.

My daughter spotted these umbrellas when we were at Melbourne’s Federation Square last week, and she said I must take a photo of them. Pretty aren’t they?

Federation Square is the new civic precinct in the heart of Melbourne It was the winning project in an international design competition.

The project covers and area of 3.6 hectars, an entire city block above the railway tracks, and consists of nine separate cultural and commercial buildings with a combined area of 45,000 square metres.

It stands in the heart of central Melbourne and links the city centre with the Yarra River. Federation Square fuses art, architecture, hospitality and promenading into a distinct and striking public space.

Visitors can stroll around Federation Square's expansive desert-toned plaza, which affords commanding views of Melbourne's riverside and cityscape, or enjoy food and wine at one of the 20 inviting restaurants, cafes and bars interspersed throughout the square.

The area you can see in the BG is Flinders Railway Station.

We happily spent a couple of hours here, and would have liked to have returned – only time went too fast for us!!

Hello Janice, nice shot!!! excellent colours you got there, I like the composition too, IMHO I will crop out the glass roof at the bottom left hand as it is a bit distracting, that's just me.. hehehe... Your were right, they are very pretty indeed. :) Well done my friend, thanks for sharing

Cheers,
Sweety

Have a sunny day.

hi janice, great POV. i like the colors and the detail. it would be nice to have night shot of this place also if you get an orange glow from those umbrellas and car lights streaking across the street using a slow shutter.
looks like a really good place to lounge around for an hour or two. cheers :)
