Kings Canyon is a spectacular gorge in the arid heart of Australia. There’s a walking track around the edge, for which you have to allow 3-4 hours, start at first light while it’s still cool, and bring plenty of water because there is none to drink on the way and hardly any shade.

But it’s worth the effort. The canyon is breathtaking, and behind it, hidden among an expanse of striking sandstone mounds, is the so-called 'Garden of Eden', a small, tranquil oasis that exists because of a deep layer of non-porous rock that stops any rainwater from draining. What makes the Garden even more special is that, because access requires a short detour from the main track, the guides from bus tours, being pressed for time as bus tour guides usually are, whizz their groups past and don’t go in. So we had the place practically to ourselves.

And this is my take on it, looking into the cool pond at the bottom of the gully. The only post-processing was some sharpening and framing, although I did clone out a small leaf that was reflecting light in a particularly irritating way.

Hello my gallery neighbour!
This is another very fine artistic image!
Superb colours and a wonderful composition that allows the ripples to form a wonderful border for the fabulous tree skeleton

Hi Stephen, lovely Red Centre colours. An interesting composition, I see all sorts of things. Is that cobwebs to the right or just reflections. Good reflections and well presented. TFS,
David

Hello Stephen,
This is a beautiful image, the colour palette is very eye-catching!

Hello Stephen, nice capture of the reflection off the surface, good idea to hide the sun behind the branch to have a balanced lighting. Nice work..

Hi my friend,

A beautiful shot and lovely composition captured. I love how you came up with the picture details in terms of the reflections.

Hi Stephen - I like to look at this image and just meditate, thinking about nothing in particular (apart from remembering the moment we shared there and how you discovered this view). There is more than meets the eye at a first glance and one is challenged to work out what is reflection and what isn't. I do love the subdued, yet still strong blue colour. Well done!! L, c.

I like this shot Stephen.

Abstract feel and excellent find.

TFS.

Hello Stephen

Ah!... I see that you have a beautiful look also of reflexes.
Beautiful the mirror of the water.
Wonderful Silhouettes contemplated in the water and you gave a touch especially with the palette scratching out circles smoothly in whites, with a painting.
Congratulations for the beautiful look and his good taste.
