David (“Refugee”) and I obviously had the same idea of posting an image referring to the Aboriginal understanding of "Dreaming" for this Friday's theme. Mine shows parts of Western and Northern Australia from the sky. The relevance of my contribution is that Aboriginals, e.g. in the Western Desert, have traditionally been painting images of their country/area from a bird's eye perspective.

Aboriginal "dreaming" includes their mythology - their stories about where they came from, where they belong, who created the earth and how this happened. They believe in them as firmly as as members of religions faiths believe in their faiths

Until Aboriginal painting was discovered by the international artmarket some 10 or 20 years ago, desert images - made in dirt or sand - were used as maps and for ceremonies and were not made to last. Aborignals did not have the notion of "art" as people in the occident have. That has, of course, changed and the Aboriginal paintings sold in art galleries have been produced with both the idea of earning money and communicating with us.

Hallo Cordelia,
Thomas

hi CORDELIA
very nicely composed shots here looking at each ones tell the story of the lay of the land realy nice work
regards bryan

Very nicely done Cordelia, the true colours of those parts of Australia very well captured. Good detail from that height especially the lower two images. Oh for an Albert Namatjira original, you can keep your Pro Harts. TFS,
David

This what one would see for hours while flying over Downunder :)) I like your collage Cordelia.. I still can not see any D90 shots yet :(
