Coolangatta, at the southern end of the Gold Coast in Queensland, on a hot summers' day. There is a thunderstorm brewing in the hills at right. The Gold Coast is a string of superb sub tropical surf beaches 1 hour south of Brisbane. I got a sunburnt back here, despite spending most of my beach time in the water.

The Gold Coast is a city of 500,000 people & popular in July (our winter) with southern domestic tourists from Melbourne & Sydney, as well as NZ. For anyone wanting a closer look at the offending highrise, try:

how lucky you are to live so close to such idylic beauty, thanx, M, (*_*)

Cool an' Watta. Just how I imagined it would be. Very pleasant and I'm burning right now. What, though, is the building? Multi-storey car park? Hotel? Does kind of spoil the ambience a litte being in concrete when a more sympathetic material (or finish) would have been nice. Town Planners, eh?

Hi Chris!
I like shots like these in January ... we had a very bad traffic chaos this morning in Berlin due to ice and snow, temperatures well below freezing (not as bad as in Moscow though).
Beautiful scenery ... I wish I had my back burnt these days here ...
take care and tfs

Hi Chris,
The Oz is looking more and more better compared to the gloom and rain of a winter gone seriously bad here. No snow!

Hey Chris,
Really like the color rendition here and the overall comp of the scenery.
I understand what Kit is saying about the building, but for me it adds the wonderful element of humanity in this world. If you can build it there, it will be built. And yes some other form of materials might aid in the blending of this building. Enough there!
I feel as if I could walk right into this scene and enjoy this lovely beach setting. But of course, sunscreen of about SPF 45 or so woud only keep me from burning on this fine day. German, English and French mix with blonde to strawberry blonde hair....yep mid American Whiteboy :O)
Great scene Chris!

Very nice picture,Chris! So strange to see that little mount near the beach! It looks like an island lost in the sea! Surprising also to see that big hotel standing alone there! Very interesting touristic view! A beautiful postcard! Tfs! Michel

Beautiful capture of a lovely seascape. Vibrant colors and excellent exposure. Very well composed and good DOF.

Hi Chris,

The most famous beach in Australia! Your photo shows me why is that! Amazing colours, great sea, the ideal place to be.
Green and light blue is the best combination, heh?
Congratulations!

HI Chris, I've had quite a few holidays here at Coolangatta - the best place in the Gold Coast, and the furthrest away from Surfer's Paradise!
The Greenmount Point always looks good, so green with the Norfolk Pines growing there. But the highrise - such a pity to spoil the landscape!
I love Coolangatta beach to to swim in - great memories, thank you.
Janice

Nice shot. Excellent colors. TFS.
