Ghost Gully is a weirdly eroded creekbed, just outside the small country town of Tenterfield, & it resembles a mini Bryce Canyon. There are 5 people, & a few sheep in the background, for an idea of scale.

Hello Chris;
It's a wonderful composition and perfect shot... The colors and perspective also perfect... It's a very interesting gulley.. It looks like Peri Bacalari in Göreme at Turkey...
Stay well..
Salim.

It IS weird, in that I would have expected different shapes from erosion from flowing water. This looks more like rainfall erosion to my untrained eye. Limestone?
Very glad that you told us about the sheep, as I can see them now. The people are critical for scale, as if you crop the top third off, it could be Enormous.

Hello Chris,
I once saw Bryce Canyon on the way back from Australia (wrong way with Air NZ) looking out of a 747 window at 30.000 feet. The sun was very deep and its very last rays were falling into this miracle of a landscape. It was a big bright orange and yellow sculpture in a sea of grey, dark and blue and I could hardly believe what I saw.
It looked exactly like the sculptured creek bed you have posted. Great memories. TFS Thomas

Hi Chris,
great capture, I like the people in the B/G it gives a good sense about the size of the canyon. Good colors and details.

Hi Chris.

What an unusual picture. Great capture, this must have been formed over millions of years. A stunner.

S.

Impressive mini canyon Chris. Do you know what kind of rock it is? Looks like limestone to me. Great POV and good to have some people in the shot for relative dimensions purposes.
Well done!

We realised in geology it's not only water who can do erosion. Some acid gaz comming from fusion under earth... disolve calcium under earth resulting enormeous caverns.

I agree it look weird here! I believe it's something relative here... Some stones were most solid then other we see the solid part... the rest was moving out by erosion!
I like it!
Impressive texture!
