There is more to this picture than mum and dad. It is the idyllic setting that they are travelling in Perth city that comforts me; it is the familiar sight of dad taking picture of mum that comforts me; and it is the observation of them, from a distance, and the thought of how the twisting fate has brought us all together that comforts me. Despite the clashing odds, despite the unpleasant facts, there's beauty in their union.
Foolish foolish humans, foolish foolish foolish humans... and their foolish foolish lovestories... The day mum married dad, her mascara ran wild with her endless tears for she was leaving home for the first time, moving away from her parents who doted her to the extreme, to a new life she knew nothing about. 7 years later, she cried alone and helplessly with a one year old baby in her arms, not knowing where to go from there. 27 years later, she stayed with dad who cried for her, cared for her and nursed her back from her demonic fight with cancer.
The lies, the secrets, and the unfaithfulness are all buried to the back of the mind. Oblivion is sweet in this lovestory because it just has to be. |
