A thicker bank of fog drifted across the Tamar just prior to taking this photo. This is a result of seeing just how much fog I could take a photo in and still retain some definition. The dredge on this day was perhaps 300 metres off shore.

The Tamar River is in the north of Tasmania, originating at Launceston at the confluence of the North Esk and South Esk rivers. The upper estuary is subject to significant siltation and has been dredged to varying degrees since the mid 1800’s, prior to commencement of the power scheme. Dredging is currently supervised by the Upper Tamar River Improvement Authority, which comprises representatives from local councils, government, the Launceston Port Authority and the community. The principal objective of the Authority is to provide river dredging for flood protection, recreational amenity, commercial activities and general navigation in the upper reaches of the Tamar River. Although the port is no longer used for major shipping activities, there are industries that rely on use of the port facilities and there are also a variety of recreational and amenity uses.

Then again you put the uncanny photograph. Very much he appeals to me. Particularly a key. The photograph is very tactful. I am only not convinced whether this willie is needed.

Nice photo David. I love the floating effect the fog produces. Background adds a good DoF too. TFS,

Glen

Hi David, this is another superb and peaceful photo!
Great mood here and the water so still.
And even with the fog you managed to have nice reflections on the water. I love the space here and the tiny spot on the far right, it adds to the image by making our eyes go all around the composition.

Very well done and I love the soft colours.

Cheers, Yan :)

Beautiful picture with great colors.
I like it a lot.
I can't wait for the next color fog :-)

Hi David,
This is a very strange image, with sunshine and foggy atmosphere at the same time!
The fog affects the lighting in a very special way, and you make well use of that here...
Well composed and all over well done!

Hi David,
amazing view, if there was no foggy misty a little darker background we could think its a real montage this due to the perfect result of this shot, but then it was not so full of life, like it is now, simply wonderfull superb shot!!!!
