I will continue with my foggy shots for a while yet. Although this winter has been quite mild there have been quite a few days of fog or haze. This is yet another shot from what has become a favourite place for my morning stroll. The temperature on this particular day was quite mild by Northern Hemisphere standards with a minimum of -2c and climbing to a peak of 12C. This photo was taken from near Ritchies Mill looking downriver.

The Tamar River in northern Tasmania starts at Launceston, at the joining of the North Esk River and South Esk River.
It is named for the River Tamar in Cornwall, UK

It flows north, approximately 70 km, the mouth of the river flowing in to Bass Strait at Port Dalrymple.

Although there are several bridge crossings in Launceston, these are across the Esk rivers; there are none across the Tamar in the city itself. The only Tamar bridge crossing is the Batman Bridge, a spectacular bridge in the relatively remote area of Sidmouth, around half way up the river.

Great moment of calm, a painting, good work, but at first, a great composition. Absolutly no default.

Hi David
I love it. I love the fog. I have to get to Tasmania. Fancy just living over the strait and never visiting yet. That is sinful on my behalf. I love that starknes of the black and the blue against the muted tones. Wonderful.
Barry

Hello David,
Very nice clear and soft light. Funny to see all the birds sitting on their stakes.
Perfect reflections and framing. TFS

Hi David,
This is so beautiful and peaceful, there is no movement on this mirror like water and the mood is excellent with this foggy morning. Very well done.

Lovely mood. what a nice place for a walk. I like the sharpness of the boats against the fogginess of the mountains. Stunning reflections. It looks chilly.

Again one in the moody amd misty series I like to see so much .. you started a new 'thing' in here with your style. Also your notes: Great! TFS Dear David and bye

Hi David.
Another Tamar masterpiece.Great POV and nice DOF.The stillness is amazing and the reflections are superb.
I am begining to think that we have a painter trying to pass himself off as a photographer. This is one of your best-but having said that you will continue to surprise all of us with more Tamar scenes.
Well done.TFS.

Ahhhhh, you cose the right word Tranquility as a title for this beautiful photograph. This is a perfect subject for a watercolor painting! Very well done David!

Thank you for your comments on my photo,"The hummingbird".

Hi David,
I like your shots with reflection. It's a one of them.

Great work
Alex

Hiya Dave,

I see your getting to be a bit of a specialist with these reflection type shots my friend. This one is no exception, even though there is a strange mood within this shot, I feel a calm atmosphere here yet an eery silence. I think it must be that the highly detailed fg looks like it has been merged into a canvas painting.

Great PP

A great effect my friend, Well done.

John

Lovely serene landscape, postcard quality shot, crisp, well exposed and fantastic pastel colors. The PP work done to remove distracting elements very good.

Terrific photo!! The fog creates an interesting sense of atmosphere and the reflections are wonderful. The tonality and painterly look adds to a very moody and superb image. Marvelous work!!

What a classic! I love it, I have just been visiting your gallery and there are lots of beautiful pictures, but this is fantastic! The background looks as if it is painted. Thanks, regards Jean.

this is a real refugee!!!

Wow, what an excellent shot. Love the almost impressionist appearance of the background, the well saturated boats and the reflection on the water. Good one.

Hi David,

This is a very nice comopsition, excellent framing too, very sharp. TFS
