Hi Janice, great compo. Innovative, yes, but I'll take the old architecture any time, not my taste. But it surely is 'different'. Thanks for the note also, another thing learned today.

Hi Janice,
Sometimes new and old go together perfectly, and this is a great example. The new building does not claim all attention away from the old church. I like your PP work in this foto, it gives it a kind of sinister mood.

Pretty neat idea and good juxtaposition of the two structures.

Hello Janice,
between two worlds the cathedral and again built building are old and again. Your picture shows us the Unterschiet. Very good work have you us to show. Wonderful photo with much clear words in your remark. Wonderful picture.
Congratulate.

Not my type of Building. Even the Dutch Heineken beer bottle wont cheer me up.
But sure I should have taken a picture from it too.

Hi Janice,
Very nice contrast of these 2 constructions, it is very different all the way, colors, texture shapes, ... Very well done.

Hi Janice, This is certainly a puzzling building when you first see it. You may think the archtects failed their course. But of coarse it is now becoming loved by most who see it and being in such an important location is a focus of many events as you say. Good clear view. TFS. Murray.

Janice, well done in spotting this juxtaposition. I tried to do the same with some buildings in Edinburgh but it didn't quite come off and so I didn't post.
Good POV

Hi Janice,
This really is an interesting find! Excellent contrast with the new & old. In this case, I think I'll stick with the old. The new building is a little too new for my liking :)
Well seen & composed

What a weird building, and what a weird combination with the church. Makes a nice colour contrast though... Still, I think it's a sign of lack of taste for a town council to approve building plans like that.
TFS Janice... I'm glad not only Belgium has scenes like that ;o).

Hi Jenice,
I just opened a directory to store my old new photos. My photos are all under construction. Now I don’t have to tell you how much I like the idea.
Yours is also a very good example.

Hi Janice,
I think I will have to agree with what the ex Melbourne boy Constantinos said. Not exactly my cup of tea either but then I have been spoilt down here by older buildings.
A good capture regardless of my likes and good artwork. TFS,
David
PS something that Victorians don't discuss a great deal is the fact that the expedition to found Melbourne was actually begun from here in Launceston.
Many thanks for your comment on

Hahaha, I was about to said that how come it seem like something is wrong with the building until I read the part "nothing is even"! Good shot Janice, a bit of sci-fi kind of shot, the colours especially and the contrast, look like something appear in X-men. :P, Nice shot... thanks for sharing,
Cheers,
Sweety

Wow, what a building! And the contrast between the two is incredible. Your composition is perfect with the spiral peeking over the top of the new building.
It's bizarre, I can't stop looking at it *lol*
Great stuff, thanks for sharing.

A well caught and interesting shot Janice! Certainly a stark contrast of old and new! Federation Square has some amazing buildings.
TFS.
Cheers,
Pat.

Janice, I love the duplicity in this shot. Old versus new. It is quite surreal, very creative. Great photo. Old church. grey sky, beer bottle 'entering' the strange stucture, ordinary rooftop. Great. A scene for a 'Matrix' movie. cheers, Karey.

Hi Janice, a really innovative POV that demonstrates the 'old and new' contrasts beautifully. It's interesting to read the feedback from people viewing the photo aboutthe Federation Square architecture. The responses are similar to what we get locally here.

Quite a few contrasts here. The old and the new, the shiny and the bleak...like the compo here

I'm not opposed to new forms of architecture, as long as they respect the existing one. Which is clearly not the case here. This building blocks the view on the church behind and lacks the esthetics of the latter. (I know what I'm talking about, I have a similar view from my window)
But as a sight and photo it still is a good find !
Kind regards

Hi Janice,
I really like the way you have put this all together, it seems to take your eye and then kinda weave its way around the picture.
Great idea.
Cheers

and I'll bet it drove the construction crew crazy to adjust to all of those irregularities. It's an interesting contrast between the old and new.
Nice shot!
