[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A view from halfway down the hill looking across to the First Basin Reserve. As you can see the fog and haze are still evident. The walkway is the causeway shown in First Basin I. When the river is in flood the waters quite often reach to the pavilion. Some flood debris can be seen on top of the rocks in the left centre of the frame. I have yet to see the flooding, that is on my list of must do's.

In the workshop is another view showing the extent of this basin. In this shot, halfway up the hillside can be seen another walking track which leads to the Alexandra suspension bridge and then another 2 km further on Suspension Bridge .

The Cataract Gorge Reserve is one of Launceston and northern Tasmania's premier tourist attractions.

The chairlift crossing the Gorge is the longest single span chairlift in the world, with the longest span being 308 m (924 ft).

The chairlift, built in 1972, has a total span of 457 m. It broke down in 2001, and several sightseers were stranded 30 metres above the Gorge for several hours, but since then it has been thoroughly overhauled and is still in use today.

The First Basin on the southern side features a swimming pool, and an open area surrounded by bushland.

A gravel walking track leads to the Alexandra Suspension Bridge, a swinging pedestrian bridge built in 1895.

Hi David,

Another perfect work,
You'r works always have very good cropping,
And especially you open framing is nice,
I mean you don't choose tight crops,

And many thanks for your reviews,

I'll post it a WS too,but tomorrow
I wish you like it,

Hello David,
looks wonderful, great view of the first basin area. But what a view it must be from the chairlift, looks like fun to ride. Ecellent POV, very nice lighting and the detail are wonderful.
Very nice landscape composition.

Hello David!

Foggy days make great photography opportunities. It was pretty quiet in the park. But you did not miss your chance to explore it , and bring back sweet images of the site. Well composed and treated shot. The empty place and fog increase the mysterious mood. Looks like ''the day after''
with all this emptyness.
Well done.

Hi David!
So your winter doesn't necessarily cause defoliation of trees. I like your green winter in the reserve and the way you present it - dim and yet well focussed. Colors are very soft and delicate. Good presentation of an interesting place!
Anton

Awwww thanks for leading me down the path David!! Gorgeous shot. Of course, this is your mansion? Nice swing set you have there my dear! Wonderful shot of the sun coming across!
