[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today marks my first year submitting my images to this site. 263 images have appeared in my gallery in that time, 126 remain.

My first submission, which was taken 14 days after I purchased the camera remains here.

Today I offer the original image reworked using some of the skills I have discovered since initially joining TL.

Over the past 12 months I have attempted to replicate this image, all to no avail. The closest I have come to the light and colour can be seen as a workshop version.

To all those who have offered their help and suggestions over the past year, my deepest gratitude. A special thanks to my wife Sandy, who on many occasions has become a photography widow and part time taxi driver especially when she receives a phone call to come and pick me up after I foolishly undertake some of my walks.

PP Work...levelled both vertically and horizontally, cropped out the half bench, digital camera noise removal, framed and resized.

If the road you travel, has no obstacles, It leads nowhere.

Hello David

I like both images actually. They each have their own unique quality. Whatever it is you do with these images, keep working at it. It's very pleasing to the eye.
Congrats on 1 year!

Joe

Hi David,
Wise words regarding roads and obstacles...
So in one year TL a great improvement that’s the way I still have to go. Concerning this picture it shows a great melancholic mood. Those willows in the mist...but there's a lantern to light the path you might go. Great capture my friend! And thanks for sharing here on TL, hopefully fore many more years! Cheers.
Hans

I agree with Sabine, it now has adream like quality to it,well done David. Sandy, thank you for putting up with his wanderings, and retrieving him when he outsmarted himself and walked too far,his wanderings have obviously made a lot of us very happy with the results. Thank you David, ok now, for the second year..............
Diane

Incredible difference between the two. You must have done something to the colour cast as well, though, as your first one has a red tinge.
Well done!
Mike

Hi David, so you have left the fog there and kept it softer, as well as cropping out the seat. Still a beautiful tree. And I like the original one you posted too. All very interesting,
Janice

Hi David,

Both images are very beautiful, none more the other! Congratulations on your first year!

Hi David!
It is great to have met you here in Treklens. At first you impressed me because of the quality of your pictures and also made me wonder about how Tasmania is through your pictures.
This sight of the willow and some others in the fog have captivated me.
Best regards.
Jacobo

hello David,
another great feel of atmosphere captured here as in your earlier post!
Absolutely lovely.

Well done and best regards, Daniel

I looked over your portfolio, and I am very impressed! I may be repeating myself, and using a painterly, rather than photographic term: you are the master of sfumato! The shots of mist and fog are my favorites because of the romantic/mystical aura they have, a subliminal quality that is as intriguing as a seven-veils dance....
Cheers
Otto

Hi David,

david,
nice soft texture created by the fog. good use of light and teh contrast is just right for this image.somehow inclusion of the lamppost adds some life to this image.

Hi David, this is a nice and majestic willow, just on the border of the road. I love the fog in the bg. I prefer this photo to the one in the ws, because of the mood.

Very well done with soft colours. Great work.

Cheers, Yan :)

And many thx for the crit on "My Mother's Favourite Trees". It's very appreciated. Yes, our dear beloved in their last days or years are very contempt with so little. But those little things are the real values in life :)

p.p.s.: Congratulations for your first anniversary on TL. And what a bonus you are for all of us, who has taught us to take wonderful fog photos. And many thx to your wife as well! :)

Hi David.

I am back. Lovely shot with the road way providing a wonderful sense of balance to the scene.Nice and soft with the mist showing through.
I had no idea this was your first shot reworked a little.Great work
Best wishes to Sandy.

Great shot David. I love foggy shots such as this. Makes for an ethreal type photo. Well Done. TFS. James.
p.s. ND is neutral density. It allows your camera to go a couple of F stops past your lens settings. I believe it is incremental to the filter number ie nd 2 would be 2 stops nd 4 would be 4 stops. it allows for blocking light and thus using a small aperature, so you can keep the shutter open longer, and get even more detail in the shot.
