Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying machines...

It's a funny old life. Here I am in Singapore, yesterday I was in Melbourne at a Formula 1 Grand Prix. And My first image from there is of two stunt planes.

On the Saturday and Sunday there were brief airshows and I think some of my favourite snaps came from there instead of at the race itself, for a number of reasons I'll go into another time.

This image appeals for a number of reasons - the colours, the angle of the planes, the vapour trails balancing the scene, the frozen propellers...

Anyway, I hope you like it!

Shot handheld.

Shot in RAW, converted, cropped, resized, ran through neat image, frame added, sharpened.

Hi Richard,
Going airborne too? Welcome to the TL-aviation club my kilted friend :)Excellent shot of these two Pilatus PC9/A aircraft of the RAAF. You captured these as if it were a twin engine dubble decker ;) The colour contrast are wonderful and stunning sharp particular it's a handheld photo.
Congratulations.
Hans

Great moment captured. Congratulations.

Hi Richard,
Great shot, the colours are good and the planes are nice and sharp, I like the smoke trails across the corner.
I look forward to some of the GP shots.

..Sounds like me at the recent off shore speed boat race.. my best photo from that day was my warbirds planes...Ya get that!! :-)

Richard... EXCELLENT capture! The red planes against the blue sky is amazing.. and so very sharp too..I like that sparkle of sun hitting the window..and I note one even has your initial on it too.. so was meant for you..

Such well placed vapour trails too...way to go!!!!

Hi Richard. Your new camera is opening some exciting opportunities for you. This is so sharp and clear with that blue sky beyound. Excellent. TFS. Murray.

PS Do you find the settings on your EOS400 simple to follow? This is what i am looking to buy soon. Tks. M.

Richard,
I like the contrast between the blues and reds here. I also think Dawn was on to something with the "R" on the tail! :)
I think the diagonal vapor trails/smoke, the freeze of the props and the alignment make this photo a keeper! I think it's great that you were able to shoot something in the sky and come away with something like this.
Well done.....get those F1 pics posted!
Scott

Hi Richard,
A lovely, dynamic aviation picture, very well captured indeed. I like the composition and framing, especially the clouds and wings at similar angle. Good stop action, spot-on exposure producing excellent detail and colour.
Well done!
Bill
