Part of my Melbourne Grand Prix 2007 theme.

Barrichello is in his second season with the Honda team, partenring Jenson Button. He has been in F1 since 1993 and has won 9 Grand Prix. He finished 11th in this Grand Prix.

"The cornering speed of Formula One cars is largely determined by the aerodynamic downforce that they generate, which pushes the car down onto the track. This is provided by 'wings' mounted at the front and rear of the vehicle, and by ground effect created by the movement of air under the flat bottom of the car. The aerodynamic design of the cars is very heavily constrained to limit performance and the current generation of cars sport a large number of small winglets, "barge boards" and turning vanes designed to closely control the flow of the air over, under and around the car. The "barge boards" in particular are designed, shaped, configured, adjusted and positioned not to create downforce directly, as with a conventional wing or underbody venturi, but to create vortices from the air spillage at their edges. The use of vortices is a significant feature of the latest breeds of F1 cars. Since a vortex is a rotating fluid that creates a low pressure zone at its center, creating vortices lowers the overall local pressure of the air. Since low pressure is what is desired under the car, allowing normal atmospheric pressure to press the car down from the top, by creating vortices, downforce can be augmented while still staying within the rules."

Very excellent photo. How do you take a moving F1 car with this outstanding clear and sharp?

Regards,
Tjutjut

Very up close and personal. Love it. TFS Helen

great work, good colors and details!well done!

Richard,
There's that 30,000(USD) steering wheel that allows the driver to fine tune the cars settings during the race, actually on the track at full speed!
This steering wheel actually costs about how much I paid for my whole truck! I thought this car was submersed in water when I saw the thumbnail.
I like the detail you captured here...the tight crop and the position that you framed the driver in. Very cool....another great shot from Melbourne!

Amazing paint job on this car, I had no idea what this shot was from the thumbnail,
Just think had the driver a matching suit and helment, then he would have been a stealth driver, lol
Great close up Richard, crisp clear details, and to borrow from applecarp a profusion of colors

Hello Richard

A super POV and excellent focus on this shot.Super sharp details,I think I can read all the writing on those charts...OK maybe not.I like the crop putting emphasis on the driver and interior.Lovely ,bold well saturated colours gives this a poster art look.TFS

Rob

Hi Richard,
You sure got in amongst em mate, another great shot, Honda have got a real interesting paint job this year and there is Rubino like a satalite orbiting the earth.
Can't wait for more.
Tfs Andy

ALRIGHT!! A Honda Man! I'm all for it! Dave and I ride Honda motorcycles and have Honda vehicles! Nice shot! This is awesome! Nice colors, excellent up close shot! Still amazed those guys can get in there! I'd get claustraphobic!

Hello Richard!

Lovely scene for a guy like me . This one is particularly hot for me as you can see North America on the side , the Great Lakes and even the famous beloved Gaspesia , I am actually posting images ( LOL !).

I think Rubinho shoud have changed his helmet colors this year. Even his own national colors would match better with the colors of the car .

I also added this one to my favorite racing shots.
well done ! I assume you took this one as he existed the garage . Pretty good reflex and timing to get such an accurate shot !
Bravo!
Have a great weekend !
Robert

good close up view of the driver and cockpit richard :)
very interesting patterns round the driver creating a nice contrast

good informative note :)

koh

Wonderful shot. Excellent sharpness and details.
Specially on the car body.
Took me a while to understand what PP work you did to get this then it dawned on me. It's the car :-). Guess I'm getting slow in my old age.
Well done
Pierre

great crop increasing the visual impact of the image and I can see you didnt watch this race with the poor people.

Amazing details, wonderful close-up shot. I like driving fast, but in these cars, I would feel claustrophobic! The color-scheme of the car is something else, very innovative!
Cheers
Otto
