This is a photo I took of an orchid (Oncidium) in my backyard.
I created 2 layers, both layers containing the photo. The background layer I made dark and the foreground layer I left brighter. I then cut out the background from the foreground layer, leaving only the flower. I merged the two layers, which resulted in this effect, with the flower standing out well from the background. |

You did well on your PP too. I also do it sometyms especially when the background is taking away the attention from my subject.
IMO, you could move the orchid around 1.5 inches to the left, hence applying Rule of Thirds. Nevertheless, this is still a very beautiful post.
