Rainbow Lorikeet photo no 2
This most striking coloured and noisy bird is one of 328 species of parrots found and 1 of 21 subspecies of Lorikeets found over the south west Pacific. Its scientific name is Trichoglossus haematodus
These birds woke us up nice and early at our camp site each morning last long weekend. They are not shy birds so with a 200mm lens one can get quite close.

Hello Nico

Superb posting here, I agree with Daniel about the way the bird is facing, this really makes the shot stand out from the norm. Superb sharpness and detail too. Lighting is just right and highlights the birds eye and plumage perfectly.

Great image

TFS regards Helen

beautiful papa
love the colors and the detail in the feathers on the neck and head!!
really really good papa

Hello Nico,
very sharp and colourful exposure.
I really like these birds (not necessarily early in the morning). They are so social and always seem to be in good mood. TFS Thomas

Hi Nico

Superb capture! Beautiful colours and great POV in the red bottle brush tree. Good details and colour. Congrats.

Interesting colours Nico.

Your composition is particularly successful - note the turning of the bird's head 'into the space' on the left (where there is more space).. thereby seeming to 'look into' the frame - thereby greatly enhancing an already decent composition !

Well done.
Have a great weekend, Daniel
