I found this caterpillar hiding away on the Callistemon I showed here and thought it would make a suitably freaky entry to this weeks them. I have seen all sorts of caterpillars over the years but never one this colour, another hand held macro.

PP Work...colour fade correction 5, adjusted curves, digital camera noise removal (noise 10, blend 70), slight crop, added border and resized.

What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly ~ Richard Bach

Hi David,
Are you saying the color of this caterpillar is REAL? I thought you must have picked the shade up from the new part of the twig. Freaky, indeed!

Wonderful composition on green BG . .

wow, this is really quite odd! the color is so vibrant and it looks quite squishy, like a waxworm. probably poisonous. How big was it?

Fascinating color, David, and great results for a handheld macro. Very nice sharpness overall, just a tad soft at left. Good DOF control. The color is rich; the setting, authenetic; and the cumulative effect, pleasing.

Warm regards,
Jim

Hi David
This really is a wonderfully shocking shade of pink. I love the little feet grasping onto the leaves, and the eyelets that you've captured running down its side. (Since you're so good at bug photos, and fog photos, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you give us a great shot of bugs in fog!)
cheers
Stephen

Hello David,

Hello David,

Beautiful visual, I still had not seen and nor thought about seeing such a pink caterpillar.
For here, I have only been seeing green prevailing with all the details, but in rose totally never.
Visual, rare beautiful specimen!
Greetings!

Hi David,
great macro, great detail.I liked the harmony of the colours and caterpillar.TFS.Necla.:)later.

I like the last line of the note! I'm surprised that it's the real color... I was reading to see if you would confirm me that you change the tone! I look how he eat and the kind of vegetation, it remain me a variety we had difficulty to eliminate by the past. They kill the pines by eating all they're needles!
I hope you have a good holiday time!

And I was already looking and looking to see if I could detect some fancy PP work, but this is the real colour? Truly amazing - it matches the colour of the branches and flowers.

Very good handheld macro.

Hello David
Why do I think of those jelly candies sold to children that personify monsters !
Its mostly-magenta color is complementary of green and rhat why this color mix is so appealing.
Have a g'day.
