| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
After a feed, Rhys fell asleep in my arms. The camera was already set up following some practice self portraits taken earlier on.
Natural light from the bay windows. I used remote setup.
I want to know whether the pose works; the fact that I am looking away and not directly down at Rhys.
Post processing work consisted of a crop to portrait orientation, healing brush, smart sharpen and levels adjustment. Black and white treatment was done in BW Styler Plug-in for CS3. Paper grade was changed for a softer look. |

i love the pose here kath :) had u been looking down at your son, it'd have looked a bit 'posed', although that same pose would have looked better with a different shooting angle and some 'dramatic' side lighting :)
the sharpness is very good here and i love how we can see the baby's face clearly :) no lighting issues there :)
the crop, in my view, is just right :) this is as good as it can get :)
congrats :) take care of yourself :)

Kath,
I think this is a great pose. The light and detail are really good. Great portrait.
Regards,
Kevin
Hi Kath,
This is a terrific shot! I like the fact that you are not looking down at your son. To me, it shows a very pensive thought from mom about her son. My oldest will be 20 in a few weeks.... It seems like yesterday I was holding him in a similar pose...
tfs, Lisa
Lovely Kath and congratulations. I would have gone evenfurther with the crop and removed that top right corner. Nicely converted, good tones and the pose perfect. TFS,
David

Hi Kath,
A beautiful moment captured here. I think the pose works - you appear deep in thought, perhaps thoughts of the past and the future. I feel a sense of peace looking at this picture, the softness you created also gives a sense of safety and comfort around your son. I agree with David in that the top right corner could have been cropped away. Otherwise, it is a perfect capture. The natural light has a beautiful effect. Well done and congratulations again.
