The Old Melbourne gaol with its blue stone walls reaches for the sky. This building if it could speak would tell many tragic stories of both poor and infamous criminals. Located in the heart of Melbourne city, this old prison saw over 130 hangings and was later closed in 1929. Walking its corridors is a reminder of criminals such as Francis Knorr who after hard times took up the practice of “baby farming”, or looking after illegitimate children. Many of these children died and she was suspected of killing them. She was arrested and housed in this prison, then later hanged at another prison in 1894. A well known Australian bushranger by the name of Ned Kelly was also imprisoned and hanged in this compound.
Many truths will forever be locked away inside these gray walls. |

Hi Peter
Certainly a place no one want to go to.
The walls show up well and those bars are definitely not very inviting.
IMHO that bit of sky is distracting, you could crop that off and still have a good shot.
It sends a message.Good shot and TFS very interesting note.

Hello Peter, an original POV for this shot.Interesting notes make it more poignant.
Tfs, regards Jean.
realy like this shot well composed
Good notes Peter. Nice colour and textures in the stone walls and the window well positioned. I may have been inclined to crop all the sky out but that is just my take. It looks quite gloomy compared with tyeh 5 star accomodation the prisoners have these days. TFS,
David
