[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just out of Launceston on the main highway to Hobart are remnants of the old convict built dry stone walls which once lined parts of the original track between the two towns. I was going to take a drive and try and photograph parts of these for this week’s theme. With the heavy layer of smoke covering the Tamar Valley this last week or so my health has not been the best so I opted for another stone wall and an older image, this dry stone wall is below the Toll Keeper's cottage last seen here.

The cottage itself dates back to the late 18th century so one would assume that the wall itself is also of the same vintage.

Neat posting with interesting notes too

Hello David,

Hope you are soon feeling better. Chest complaints are scary things!

This is a sharply exposed and nicely detailed wall. It really does resemble a jigsaw and one wonders how they got it so neatly arranged! I like your pov which gives us an opportunity to contrast the wall with the different wood designs.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

The wall looks great for one so old. I would have thought it was a late 20 century wall. It has kept well, and looks so crisp and sharp. It doesn't look easy fitting all the odd shapes together to make a wall like this.
Good find David

Ha, I would not mind being the artist and live in a house like this in a setting like this.

Hi David,
Lovely wall and nice contrasting texture with the wood on top of it.
Hope the air clears up soon for you.

ps hope you are feeling better.

Hello David,
I like the textures and the patterns!
The rocks make an attractive display of varying shapes and colours in this fine abstract expression...
A well framed view, with inclusion of some building details to give reference!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello David
A stunning patience and knowledge to cut manually stones were needed to embed so perfectly the pieces of this puzzle.
Imagine the huge stones used for the erection of the Pyramids in Egypt!
An artwork in itself.
Thanks for showing the knowledge of hearty ancestors.
G'day
Robert

There is something about this I like. The different colors and the texture are nice!
