After dropping our foster child at school during the week I drove to the nearby St Leonard’s picnic grounds just to see what Autumn was like back where we used to live. The russet shades of some weeds and reeds along the river bank caught my eye and after taking some normal coloured shots I switched to sepia mode, as a workshop a diptych of the sepia version plus a coloured version.

Hello David
I heard of an old portraitist who used to retouch 4x5 negatives with special pencils.
That was quite an art!
I think a negative view is often more captivating than a positive because the imagination has to work longer to recognise shapes...and it provides for shure an artistic view.
Your work provides an early-winter-like impression at first glance.
G'day.
Robert

Hi David,
Excellent negative view, wonderful colors and frame.

:-) OK-

This works beautiful David.
I was the first to open your picture, but then you had not yet uploaded the WS - so now I could have a look at that as well. I think this one works out the best.

Hello David,

This feels really cold and icy!
That just proves the effects that colours have, since the w/s clearly shows a much warmer scene!
Superb composition, as always.

Have a good weekend, my friend, and I hope the smoke has disappeared,
Bev :-)

WOW!! An incredible work of art! Excellent work here David! EXCEPTIONAL details...you get an award for this one! Love the blues and whites!

It looks perfectly natural, yet "snowy", in this version, David. But I'm glad you included the other versions as well in the ws, now it's clear what we're looking at ;o).
Excellent details in here, I like the toning too.

Hi David

Fantastic entry in the 'negative view' theme, with an almost infra red look & feel. Good conversion to b&w, with an attractive pale blue sepia tone. Tfs!

Interesting effect - hard to tell if it's a picture of woodland in the distance or a close-up of the floor and grass and weeds.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hi dear friend,
quite interesting addition to the theme.

The negative view makes an interesting abstract kind of shot, but your color version in workshop is beautiful as well. This shot takes on a different personality whether viewed as the thumbnail or full size. It would make a lovely enlargement as well!
Take care,
Karen

This is maybe a negative view but this create effect like from someone winter scene

HI David, this is a very attractive image. The composition is excllent and some good PP work. I prefer this to the other versions it looks like a winter/snow scene. The layers are good and great background. Very nice job.
