Hi Folks,

a posting of another wonder in Down Under, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Some facts from the Net about this structure.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that carries rail, vehicular, and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore.

The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image of both Sydney and Australia.

The bridge is locally nicknamed The Coathanger because of its arch-based design, although this usage is less prevalent than it once was.

The bridge was the city's tallest structure until 1967. According to Guinness World Records, it is the world's widest long-span bridge and its tallest steel arch bridge, measuring 134 metres (429.6 ft) from top to water level. It is also the fourth-longest spanning-arch bridge in the world.

For this particular shot I like the arch curve spanning from top left down to bottom right of the frame.

Also see here about the historical facts about this bridge that our good friend Beverly Robinson (Royaldevon) shares with us.

Thanks for viewing and have a great week end.

Agoes

Hello Agoes,

This is a great posting of the famous bridge.
I really like the pov you have chosen, which creates a fabulous composition stretching from the upper left corner to the opposite diagonal corner.
Superb, sharp definition and a good dof.

You stirred an interest in me when I read your notes. I found this link on the Internet which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the opening of the bridge and shows some wonderful old photographs. http://www.pylonlookout.com.au/images/PylonHonourRoll.pdf

Hi Agoes

Wow! It's been 23 years since I've been to Sydney. Time I rediscovered my own country, maybe? Good use of the bridge to frame the Opera House, with superb colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Hi Agoes,

Wow! Look at how the blue the sky is and its dark blue reflection on the water. A great photo with great POV of capturing two of Sydney's famous landmarks in one photo. I spent a good 4-5 years in Perth before but regrettable I never made a trip to the Eastern States of Australia. I wish I had now.

TFS.

Alvin

hi Agoes

As I expected your next post to be and stated in my earlier comment, the Harbor bridge, a design wonder. Well framed to include the Opera House and although beyond your control to crop off the top of buildings at right, the view is simple well captured in bright day. Well done.
