[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I’m an avid reader of boating magazines, I like boats. For years I’ve been looking at full page colour spreads of the latest floating palace or sports cruiser. Invariably they shoot these beautiful boats travelling at speed across inky black water with the boat perfectly exposed. I’ve tried for years, unsuccessfully, to work out how they get that stylised effect.
Well, now I know.
I was shooting some Australian bush shots this afternoon from a high vantage point over water, as I was wrapping up I saw this cruiser coming along the bay. The shot was taken at the long end of the zoom and there was no background only water. What I did was isolate the blue of the water and drop the light level to zero, can you believe it, years of trying to work it out, and as easy as that.

Secondly, congratulations on this image. Super contrast. Great exposure on the water and boat - well composed. Hope to see more.
