Hi Terry, actually this is a good composition and colour is already there too - the sky and the rays from the sun. But the foreground is a bit of a problem. A few things to improve it.
First of all, try shooting this during sunset or sunrise. That way you can get a more colourful photo.
Utilise a tripod. That way you can use a smaller aperture of f22 or f16 to achieve maximum sharpness and, also, with that you can use a slower speed thus softening the water. You can also use ND grad filter (the holy grail of pure landscape photographer!) to control the contrast between the sky and the foreground.
Otherwise, shoot this in raw (but still try doing it during transition times) and then you can edit the rest during the PP.
GOOD LUCK!
HI Terry...I like your shot...nicely composed...nice details and light.
Roger
I like the view - but yes, would agree that tripod and ND filters are the way to go for seascapes... The filters would give better definition to the FG rocks..

Hi Terry,
I am also a bit undecided on this one. I love seascapes and this is almost a fantastic shot, I like the deep contrasts and the low light catching the rocks but its just a bit too bright on the RHS - grad ND filters are great things to have in your bag, but some software packages have them. I also like the framing and the composition is great.
cheers
Jack
Hi Terry,
I do understand the critique of Shaminan and Ralph, but I do have a different opinion, I like the contrast very much. The sun ray at the right is superb, the composition is very well balanced. Great scenen well captured and presented. David is advise is perfect, but neverthess the UE of the rocks a fine posting. TL is to learn and you will do :-)

Hmmm...I like this! The strong contrasts create mood and excitement. Compositionally, the diagonals leading toward the sunrise work well to give the shot purpose and visual flow. The smoothness of the sky compliments the rugged rocks nicely. I especially like the sense of looking out from the crevice to see this scene without being blinded by the sun:) Super!
Hi Terry, I don't think this is one of your best. I like the intent of your composition.
