[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've been away from Treklens for too long; very busy with my final year at dental school! It's the winter break so I thought I'd get back into it.

These dolls were a gift from my brother when he returned from his travels which included a stop in Russia. Placed them on a glass coffee table, focused on the little one and took the picture. That's pretty much it.

Personally I find the composition a little funny; the focus point does not follow the rule of 1/3's and I find it too symmetrical and centred. Feedback is most welcome!

Hi Roxy,
I really like your composition!
The way the bigger figures fade into blurriness and are reflected, gives a wonderful dof. I like the choice of sepia though I am curious about what colour your matrjoshkas have.

kindest regards,
Heike

Shallow depth of field works for this close-up shot Roxanne, colour version would have had a stronger impact on the viewer, perhaps getting rid of the dust off the surface would improve your shot too, good luck in your final year :)

Hi Paul/Roxy,

Great creativity and result. YOur DOF used here is very effective and conversion to B&W a great choice. THe dust particles on the glass does diminish the outcome a little. I personally have no issue with the 'thirds' rule not being observed here, the 50/50 split black - white composition is appealing to me. TFS.

Regards,
Martyn
