SOUTH SEA ISLAND, FIJI. Everything That's Fun Under the Sun

Fiji is a country and an archipelago in the southern Pacific Ocean, consisting of about 330 islands and 510 islets and atolls of volcanic origin, spread in an area of 3 million km². Only about 100 islands are inhabited by the 832,000 residents. It is a tropical paradise with beautiful beaches. Its clear waters and reefs are ideal for diving and fishing.

The little bit of land is South Sea Island in the Mamanuca group of Fiji islands. It is located due west of Nadi international airport, only 25 minutes from the port at Denarau. I will be quoting from a travel brochure because when we stopped by this island to drop people off I had never heard anything about this tiny island before and all I can find on the internet is about day-trips out to the island. So I guess it isn’t for sleeping over. It was very small, and didn’t have too many buildings on it.

For the greatest fun under the sun you can't beat a day at South Sea Island, Fiji's premier maritime playground. Just 25 minutes from Denarau Marina aboard the South Seas Cruises high-speed catamaran, their uninhabited island awaits surrounded by crystal clear waters and magnificent soft coral reefs.

Their Fijian crew will give you a warm welcome as you step ashore onto the white sandy beaches. Then the island and all its activities is yours to enjoy. The hardest part is choosing what to do first!
Your day trip includes usage of all non-motorized watersports. You can enjoy snorkeling, sailing, paddle boards, spy boards and windsurfing.

Other great features of your day at South Sea Island will be a ride beneath the waves in their semi-submersible vessel to explore the coral reefs and wonder at the magnificent tropical fish life in the surrounding marine sanctuary.

A tasty barbecue and salads lunch is included, as are vouchers for unlimited drinks of your choice from beer, wine and soft drinks throughout the day.

It's been so long since I've had a good swim Janice, and you're really making me restless now. This is such a beautiful shot, there's probably every shade of blue in it. If I was on the boat I would have jumped into the water. It's so inviting. The long lines of scattered clouds, with the beautiful island in between surrounded by the stunning blue ocean and sky... I wanna go. Great work. TFS.

Lovely shot Janice... Excellent colours and composition. You must have really had a great time there!

Viewing this image brings back some happy memories. I am glad someone has been able to do it justice.

I recently spent 2 nights here in the dorm above the bar/reception. Who cares if the beers were on the warm side and the Bounty rum was stupidly strong when you could roll out of bed and go snorkelling in the fantastic waters around the island.
