~ Palms & Cycads ~

I am fond of palms and cycads, though I have found it challenging to grow them in the Manawatu region since I moved here. I guess it’s just a tad too cool during the winter months, perhaps too windy, probably BOTH!

These three photos are from plants I have seen in warmer climes in Auckland or in greenhouses. You’ve gathered I decided to convert them into B&W for this composition, I did this to accentuate their different structures and form.

The individual photos were each cropped, resized and sharpenend from their original photos.

Good morning my neighbour,

Have a nice Sunday,

Stasa

Preciosos esos blancos y negros. I liked it. Un saludo :)

three nice graphics in B&W, nice

Martyn, fantastic abstract images - all three, and nicely put together in one frame.
I can only dream of growing the things that you grow down there!!
Trudy:)

Three very intriguing images cleverly combined into one frame. I think your choice of black and white is the right one – less distraction from the patterns.

Nice geometric composition. Good choice for the B/W : the light and shadows are more expressive !
Best regards
Jean

Bonjour Martyn,

Well, I have to say that I am impressed by your work. I rarely take flowers or plants, and I would never think of converting them into B&W! Your composition make me reconsider my way of looking at nature in general. You managed well to play with textures and contrast.
I learned something today...
Your series of palms and cycads is what I like best in your gallery.

merci,
Damien. (points off)
