Hi Cadi,
During my visit at Auckland I climed many volcanoe's but not Mt. Wellington. So I'm quite happy with this posting :-)
The composition can be improved in my opinion (although it's not bad at all) by a different crop. Made a WS to show what I mean. Nevertheless it is a fine picture, dramatic sky nicely sharp. Looking foreward to more.
Hans

Hi Cadi, both your composition and that of Hans workshop have there merits. There is a starkness to this photo which makes it attractive.

Not a bad shot Cadi. A few sincere thoughts from me....
The workshop by Hans is good although, personally, I'd only crop the ground while maintaining the sky altogether so that the horizon won't fall in the centre and the rule of third is applied.
I'm not a huge fan of post processing but I'd certainly clone out that structural thing (whatever it is) in the distance. And since the colour is a bit flat, perhaps you can add vibrance by increasing the saturation.
Since you shot using asa200, I thought you could've used a much smaller aperture of, maybe, 16 to maintain sharpness. I even think that you'd still be safe at f22,1/50 - but shooting with a strong steady grip though!
Other than that, you've done pretty well here. Placement of the tree is great....:-)
And I hope I'm not that late to welcome you to Treklens!:-)
