The Red Checkers, dwarfed by the sheer magnitude of the tailplane of the monster C-17 as they prepare for some spectacular stunts at the RNZAF Air Show held at Whenuapai.

The C-17 incorporates many of the military jet transport standards — a high-set wing (swept 25 degrees), T-tail, rear cargo-loading assembly and heavy-duty retractable landing gear with fuselage blister fairings.
Together with a pilot, co-pilot, loadmaster, the C-17 can carry up to 144 troops, 102 paratroops, or 48 stretchers.

With a payload of 160,000 pounds, the C-17 can take off from a 7,600-foot airfield, fly 2,400 nautical miles, land on a small austere airfield in 3,000 feet or less.

Although the Red Checker's were nifty, light, and maneuverable by the C-17's standards, The C-17 was no slouch. An awesome performance.

Haha! What a brilliant shot. Very clever Dennis! You captured this really well, perfect composition and POV. Just managed to squeeze the last one on the right in. Excellent photo.

TFS,
Regards,
Scott.

What a contrast! Big vs small! It's a very dynamic shot, the dihedral of the CT-4s and the anhedral of the C-17 provides a very nice contrast too - lots of angles! Nice exposure of the C-17 tailplane too - it could've easily been too dark.

TFS!

Cadi

They look like little wasps above the C-17, you nailed that shot Dennis. Nice detail.

Good catch here Dennis. The 4 Red Checkers are so bright and sharp against the tail of the monster...

Well done

How's your camera after it's visit to CANON? My camera came back fine but I then had one on my lens on holiday there too - I only got it back today... Fortunately both under guarantee.
