This was taken from the viewing deck of Auckland's Skytower, through the glass floor. Apparently, the glass is as strong as the concrete, but that didn't do much to calm my nerves as I stood on it!! 328m high, the Sky Tower is the tallest man-made structure in Auckland, with amazing 360 degree views. Some crazy people choose to jump off it - doing the Sky Jump. You can see the target where they land just above the base of the Tower.

I decided to convert it to B&W - the colours aren't all that interesting but I liked the contrasts. Hope you like it =)

Impressive view. I agree on your choice to go B&W. Concrete and pavement don't have much to offer in terms of color. The sun gives it enough contrast. There seems to be a bit of reflection in the top right quadrant. Other than that the picture gives lots of movement even though all items are stationary... buildings don't really move. There is a three dimensional feel to this picture. Great angle.

Yeah - that wouldn't do much to calm my nerves either. What a view!
It's a great shot. I like the way you chosen to shoot it - with the streets on the diagonal, and the intersection in the middle.
Great shot.

Bonsoir Cadi,

I experimented the same feeling years ago at the CN Tower in Toronto. As an engineer I know how the glass could be strong and safe, but your nerves just don't listen to your head and my legs were shaking while standing over the glass. This is a good shot. Nice contrast, sharp details. I like the diagonal compostiion. Nice work and TFS.

Hey Cadi,
I got dejevu when I saw this photo :P. The B&W certainly does this shot justice. I wish I could afford to go to the top so I could take a photo like this, BEFORE I ate lunch of course, lol. Excellent POV. There are some vague signs of reflection from the glass but they're not too noticeable. Nice work.

TFS,
Scott.

P.S. Argh, I'm all out of smileys for the day sorry. I'll make it up to ya.

This is one of the best through-the-floor shots from Skytower I've ever seen! The clarity is superb!
Apart from one slight reflection towards the upper right of the frmae, it's frighteningly UN-glasslike!!

X marks the spot, nice angle Cadi, black and white is striking too

authentic good bw photo

Hello Cadi,
right choice B&W, colors are distracting from the aim, which is depth. Impressive effect. The Sky jumpers are out of calibration.
Ciao, Elena

Bonjour Cadi,

The overall composition is quite impressive. Without your note, I would have thought of a view from outside, where you may have needed a weird not to say dangerous position to shoot. After reading fellow members' notes I could finally see some tiny relfections of the glass.

Good use of the diagonals and perpendiculars . And the BW was your best choice.

Another cool thing to do may be to take another shot without the tower you are in! It should look like some flying view!

Nice work.
