Auckland Sky Tower & CBD

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| This was my first time at taking a nite Auckland cityscape shot, from Northcote point, & looking under the Auckland Harbour Bridge. There's a lot of potential, that could be done with this shot, but that's why I've posted it; to get good & bad feedback. Auckland CBD really does look better at night, rather than during the day... I've also added more of a blue hue, to the Sky Tower, to create a sense of winter/chill. |

Hi Cris,
I'm don't really think this photo works to be honest - Especially partly in B&W. Looks more like a scanned film photo, than a high quality digital image. Your composition is good, but the other elements of the photo could definitely do with improvement. I understand that this is your first attempt at night photography so I won't be too harsh :).
There seems to be a slant to the horizon, and the base of the bridge is quite distracting. Auckland City does indeed look better at night, perhaps you could go back and try again some other time. A good attempt however.
Regards,
Scott.

I kinda like the B&W with the blue tones
but the image is not straight there is a lot of noise and the bridge thing across the top is just distracting

Hi Cris,
The first thing that is obvious, is over exposure. 8 sec. at f/ 5,6 seems to be a mighty long time..)))Night photography work best on manuel mode, automatic pattern metering mode I wouldn't recommend under those " light situation. Slow shutter speed also produced "camera mouvement" which gives you that kind of blurry effect. The metal structure at the top, don't help much the composition. You could have maybe, got to a lower angle, you surelly meant to include the top antenna of the "blue tower".
p.s. I would recommend that you able the "workshop option" in your profil (my account). This could be a good way, something to get help or second opinion on your shot. Keep on shooting, pratice make perfect.
