[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today a few of us went out to met Derek (Derona) from Scotland, who is here in New Zealand on a short visit.

We went to a number of places in Auckland.. and one was the wintergardens in the Auckland Domain.

I spotted a sparrow sitting in the shade.. So took a few pics of him/her.

Because of the low light, there was some noise in the background, I used noiseware (that was suggested by Ralph (hapisnapa) a free download), very easy to use.

I felt I wanted to sharpen this image again to just bring out the bird more, but it tended to make the noise appear a little more.. so left it as is.

I rather liked the BG bokeh.

Thanks for a great day out guys.. it was fun.

Hello Dawn.
Looks good.!
The Sparrow is sharp without overdone. The blurred background is fine without the noise, you removed
Bravo from Jan

Excellent bird photography. Nice quality.
Little suggetions to improve this wonderful image.

Go to the replace color option and replace green with gray. Look at Workshop.

Hi Dawn,
Excellent photo, love the backdrop. Very clear with great lighting. I took my water lily photo from the wintergardens at the Auckland Domain. A very nice place to visit.

Best wishes,
Scott.

Hey, I saw you shooting this little fellow - well done Dawn.
He looks nice and sharp, nice catchlight in his eye. Good noise removal too.
I like Mujahid's workshop - he gives it a totally different look with the grey BG too.
It was an enjoyable day out and I did enjoy meeting Derek.
Cheers
Janice

Hi Dawnie,
Again a TL meet? Well a great capture of this Kiwi sparrow (is that a different specie? Bigger mouth for sure)Anyway the DOF is perfect and the noise filter works well here. Great posting my dear.

Hi Dawnie

OMG... a sparrow! Nice shot of this wee fellow! Good catchlight in the eye. Guess I must be 'out of favour', I wasn't included in 'few of us' didn't know there was another TL visitor :( Ahh, well.... seems to be the story of my life at the moment :(

Nice one Dawn, I like the catchlight in the centre of the eye.
With such a red head we should call him Blue.
Enjoyable day yesterday.
Pete.

Hi Dawn, I like your photo the way it is, am not keen on the workshop but did learn from the tehqnique used. I would have expected a sparrow photo from Peter not you. Glad you found Noiseware useful. Ralph

Nice shot Dawn, like the dof. The sharpness is in the right place. Well done

Hi Dawn - the background almost looks like a halo for this wee fella, I kinda like that effect. Pretty sharp for 1/40th and I do like the wee glint in his eye. Nice shot :-)

Hi Dawn,

Got here through Rew's gallery. This is a nicely perched sparrow not much different than ours. Excellent perch on that diagonal branch. I like the way you have silenced the background exposing fine details of the plumage.

TFS and best regards,
Jusni
