Auckland City taken from North Head, on the North Shore.

This was taken early evening, 1 hour 20 minutes before sunset. The sun was low in the sky and the clouds were building up over the city.

In the Maori language, Auckland is known as Tamaki Makau Rau, the city of 100 lovers. It earned this name because it was a place desired by all and conquered by many.

The Auckland region is a mixture of so many different geographical environments, with three harbours, two mountain ranges, 48 volcanic cones and more than 50 islands.

Auckland's population is approximately 1.4 million, making it by far the largest city in New Zealand, with one third of the country's entire population.

Nice shot Janice, love the overcast sky. The Skytower in the distance gives great depth to this photo too, as do the boats. Great vantage point.

TFS,
Scott.

City of 100 lovers...lol didnt know that... (lets go to Auckland next Janice...ha ha).

This turned out pretty good Janice, bit tricky because of the different light..the sun was pretty harsh over to the right further...very nicely composed...and what a great city!!

And for those that dont know.... Janice and I were born right smack in the middle there,..well maybe a bit to the right, between the tall buildings!

Great views from up there!

Hi Janice,
Beautiful cityscape of Auckland, I like the dramatic sky in the background very much, it really adds impact to the shot. Despite the poor light conditions, sharpness and saturation are excellent. I also like the lot of small sailboat scattered in the bay. Great job! TFS.
Greetings,
Kristof

Excellent.!
Wow, Janice one of your best (out of the many)
The forground colours contrasting in a perfect way with the skyline and the dark clouds.
Really a fantastic promotion picture of your Auckland.

Hello Janice!

Splendid formulation of this place, very the bautiful panorama.
Very pretty effect, especially boats look very curiously.

This scene is certainly full of interest Janice. A different look to the city at this time of day. I also like the heavy dramatic clouds hanging low in the sky. Well done.
Pat.

Hi Janice,

Terrific shot of Auckland. Large city and the sea is the perfect combination for me. Beautiful blue tones throughout the photo. You caught it at the perfect time... looks like the calm before the storm.
