So maybe you're getting sick of this series already ... but another minor achievement for me.

As with the previous shot, there's no adjustment PP on this. Although I'm always happy to use PhotoShop to make my shots look as good as possible, it's a whole different challenge to get good shots in-camera.

I understand now why they recommend sunrise or sunset as the best times of day for outdoor photography!

Thoughts, reactions, feedback or suggestions, as always, are hugely appreciated.

Weird thing...I'm bothered by the height difference between the gravestone and Kristy, it seems too great given their closeness, doesn't sit right with me....Or maybe if her head was bowed slightly forwards....or resting against the stone...

I like this shot because it makes me think about the alternatives...not many shots do that. I love how you've caught just a fraction of her eye, that works vey well indeed.

Her right hand...it seems odd just to have three fingers there, it looks strange and i've tried to replicate a similar grip and it's just feels wrong! Also, the thumbnail on her left hand seems out of place as well :-)

Sorry, I've been really nit-picking here, but there are a lot of interesting little details that make me think, and that's a good thing - I genuinely like the shot!

Hi Rew,

Its a good thing that you come to appreciate (more) the merits of early morning or late afternoon light. I love the warm tones here as well as the saturated greens of the background (late afternoon light tends to do that while early morning sun tends to saturate the reds and blues, just my observation, no scientific basis behind it).

I also like Kristy's expression, you did a splendid job with the composition. As to the message being conveyed by the photo, I leave that to other TL members :). Thanks for sharing.

Hi Rew,
I like your (Her) Morning Prayer. Perhaps for the best light. You got it right. And the whole setting, angle and atmosphere - the best from your cemetery series.
Petr

Hi rew:
Wonderful use of the sunset/sunrise in this imegry...
all aspects like dof & sharpness work so well here...
most excellent!!!
David

Good morning Rew,
excellent light and composition,
beautifull work!!!

Igor

This one I like the most, till now.
Her expression and the light on her face are really beautiful.
Great compo; congrats !

Hello row.

Nice light as usual , but for this one, I find the pov not really appropriate.

the cross form is not enough evident, and the face of the model partially hidden by his hair. It would have been better if you had been placed a bit more on the right maybe.

just my advice ;)

TFS

Olivier

Meditative mood. I love the lighting effect on this image. Sharp, and well exposed! :)

Jeruel

This does lok good Rew.
For a shot without PP its pretty much perfect.
Of course it would look better if taken with a Lumix ;)
I hope Edna May didn't mind.
Great work.
Steve

very nice color, at first I would say the hair is not right you can't see her eyes or face maybe a tilt of the head would have made the difference but on the other hand it might loss the eerieness of the scene. Perhaps this pose was better it adds mystery. Nice composition.

Very beautiful!! Original idea and perfect lighting and color. TFS

Perfectly use the light. Very nice. You have good perspective there. It looks sentimental. One small thing there; it seems the colors are dead. Maybe becuase of the BG. Other than that I agree with Kilted-Arab's comments, and was very insightful. Sothy

Hi Rew,
I don't see any means of 'getting sick' by this series. All of them delivered something notable.

And this one is my choice... in my humble opinion, more expression, meaningful. The light actually is perfect for this kind of expression to me. PP adjustment might ruin the mood and 'story' you captured. The 'story'... I actually don't know the proper word for that 'something' in my head... grr... Yupp! Mystical.

Cheers,
Ramdan

i have small doubts about all the space above her head
i think its a little bit out of balance
but the light is very good
so again an interesting shot

Of all the series, I love this more than the others. I like the shallow BG that makes Kristy and the Cross standout. I also like the angle, the name written on the cross base and the composition.

I dont see any setback from this series, maybe its just me. I just love it!

Andy

This is a very compelling image because of the way she is relating to the gravestone. She seems to be holding it like a lover, rather than like a departed loved one. She almost seems to be dancing with it. There is a strange eroticism to this shot. (And, depending on yor predilections, that becomes even more interesting given that the deceased appears to be a female.) Overall it reminds me of the kind of effects that fashion magazines sometimes try to get, where, in their decadence or desire to be provocative or whatever it is, they throw in a slight tinge of the macabre. Impossible to tell what you had in mind exactly, but for the reasons stated above, it's an arresting photo. And I admire your old-school approach. It's good to remember how hard it used to be in the pre-digital days. Personally, I can't believe I ever had the patience to get a good shot on celluloid. Great work, Rew. I really like this one. Best, -Hugh

WOW ...... THIS IS AWESOME SHOT MY FRIEND ....... !

Great lighting in this shot Rew. I like the composition with the hair partially covering the eye. I feel that Kirsty is a little bit low in the frame but excellent work and an interesting series
cheers
Jack

Hi Rew,
No, not tired of your series at all,
I think that this shot without the use of PP is great, loads of elements that are really pleasing, lighting, composition, atmosphere. I agree with your comment about the time of day of available lighting. For me I particularly like the composition and dof of this shot.
Kind regards,
Philippa

Rew...
Again, Wonderful Shot.
this is great photo, I love the DOV and also perfect natural sun lighting.
very nice colors and atmosphere too, look like you shot her in afternoon when sunset will coming, I dont have any critic for this lovely image rew...
very well done and TFS
regards
Haldian

like the warm light and contrast
poss only thing I would do is crop off the top
I know you would lose the cross and inherent meaning but would improve comp balance

well capture rew..the light to the model emphasizing this pic..maybe the model face could be seen clearly as to show some expression..well thats me of course..great shot bro..TFS..keep shooting

cheers
dimi

It's always nice to get that photo looking great right out of the cam and just tweak it a little in PS to give that edge. Light is the key.. and you are right.. :D

hallo Rew..

BRAVO!

ella

Hi Rew

When I 1st saw your baby shot over a hanger, I was amazed by it, simply because if in reality you would do such a thing. The technical part of photography is secondary.

After I read about your setup, I began to appreciate it even more, simple again, because you would go that extra to make it fun with pp work.

For this series, you make bold decision to let go of pp work, and I applaud that.

Not so much on the technical aspect of this photo, mate, but I really like the warm sun and the model's cooperation with photographer in getting to this shot.

Underlying this shot, is a great effort only photographer and model will know.

I wait your next surprise series, Rew.

And I am happy that you remain 2nd critique to my 1st post on TL, and I got 2 points. I count on your encouragement and continuing critique on my gallery. TFS

cheers

Salut Rew,
Veiled a catch of perfect sight!
Your model, beautiful Kristy is opposite the sun, which gives a beautiful contrast (hair face) and a beautiful color of skin with a glance angelica.
It is most beautiful of the photos of your series.
