What a stunning effort that has really paid off. Love the descriptive notes and the skill in getting all the exposure to merge like this requires extreme patience and you have really pulled of a beaut mate! The composition is perfect and my congrads. Thanks for sharing such great work. Well done!

Now, WHERE at Milford beach are you? That's the beach where I grew up. Is this closer to Takapuna? Black Rock area?

Hello Jack
This is a nice capture, i certainly like the colors in the sky!
The treatment u've chosen to show the hidden details (full range), IMO it didn't work perfectly here.

There is still a major part which is quite a dark!
To avoid doing HDR in any program i some times use Image overlay option in-camera effects!

All u need to do is to take photos in RAW and then apply image overlay n there u get single RAW file (thats i do on my Nikon not sure what Pentax has to offer :))

Hi Jack,

the work you've don was worth the result! I love it - it's so well saturated, has so good light in almost every spot. Not even speaking of the compo which leads perfetly from the left bottom to the center and right of the shot. The only thing to omit is the distant light on the other shore - it looks rather like an unwanted artifact, than the distant light spot. Anyways the work is beautiful! Thanks for the interesting note! tfs

A wonderful sunset view and excellent shot with perfect PP. Beautiful sky and the foggy water, nice black mountain and fine POV creates one wonderful stage and excellent mood.

excellent pp work
the smoothness of the water gives a peaceful atmosphere
also the tonal range is splendid
nice silhouettes and sharpness with a clean DOF

Well Jack to be honest,this looks very impressie and it has a great kind of mood,but I miss some sharpness.
