Arum / Calla Lilies
Zantedeschia aethiopica

These Arum / Calla lilies are growing in my garden.

It comes from the wetlands of southern and eastern Africa and has naturalized extensively in New Zealand, where it is considered a pest!!!

The yellow spadix is actually many tiny flowers arranged in a complex spiral pattern on the central column. The tiny flowers are arranged in male and female zones on the spadix. The top 7 cm are male flowers and the lower 1.8 cm are female flowers.

I went out into the garden late this afternoon and I liked how the sun was shining on the plant through the overhead trees.

Very nice macro of this white calla! I Superb play of shadows and light, here. You rendered perfectly the white corrola keeping its fine nerves.
I especially like too, the light on the one in background is gorgeous, too! Bravo! Annie

I love the lighting on these beautiful flowers I also love the texture It is a beautiful shot Well done I found the white frame was a little bright and distracted me a little I experimented in a workshop with a different colour I should like to know what you think

A lovely shot of the Lilies. Perfect exposure to get the details of the white flower without overexposing the image.

Oh wow, Janice... my gosh.
That is a beautiful shot. For one I love white flowers against a dark BG, but this is just fabulous. The lighting is wonderful and your exposure is perfect. The texture of the petals is still visible. Superb sharpness and detail and just beautiful color and the vertical framing fits perfectly. Lovely, lovely shot. Many thanks and warm regards,

Wonderful work here Janice! Not easy to shoot a white flower in the sunlight! Nice details in the pedals! The darker BG is nice! The inclusion of the other lily in the BG is perfect for this~ Nice work my friend!
