Dusk on Moturiki Island
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Moturiki Island is a rocky island accessible by foot on the Main Beach in Mt. Maunganui. Far in the distance lies Motuotau Island. I used a 3-stop reverse ND grad for the sky and stacked with a 2-stop gradual ND grad to hold back the water. |

Super pic Bernard, the way the island in the distance is surrounded by such mystery is great. The water colour has also come out really great!
Cheers
Steve
Hi Bernard,
Love the composition, which is ironic given I was reading up on landscape composition to day and this is text book. I note the lack of detail in relation to the island on the horizon and wonder if this was deliberate or a side effect of the filters?
Do you use alot of grad filters? I use a polariser and that's about it. I am looking to try my hand at landscapes and for local inspiration I have read up on the work of Andris Apse (sp) and on TL for a NZ contributer I would have to say your work has been outstanding.
Keep up the great work.
Ray.
I've been to Mt Maunganui twice and recall it to be a picturesque place. I wish I had seen it then through your eyes. Your photo is really impressive.
Hi Bernard,
this pic is fabulous, the filters have created a very moody effect. Taken in the 'blue hour' between sunset and dark, nice balance between the foreground and background with enough space in between to almost create 2 images within the one frame. Oh dear, I'm raving.
I just love it. Well done.

Great colors and details.
Great picture Bernard.
Much to learn for me from your great work . I love the colour of the water and its contrast with green plant. Great sharpness of the rocks.
