Let's play croquet

During a nice warm day I strolled through the streets of Rotorua. My goal that morning was the Rotorua museum of art and history, not to visit the interior, but the outside, including rose garden.

Well, the weather was gorgeous, nice clouds in the blue sky. When I arrived at the museum I was surprised by the croquets fields in front of the building, including a stunning garden. It was a real pleasure to stroll through the garden, a wonderful designed place with fine trees, ponds and flowers.

Well this is my impression. Two ladies playing the noble game of croquet. In short hitting colored balls through gates and finally a colors pole at the end. When I yelled enthusiastic "Go All Blacks go!", when one of the ladies managed to get one of the balls through a gate they looked at me as if I was mad? Why? So I kept my mouth shut and made some more pictures.

This is a cool shot Hansie!! It looks as though the RED ball is in motion, which adds depth to the shot. SUPER sharp, excellent details on the building! F11 was a great choice! I like it!

Hi Hans,
It's a really great shot to present this anglo-saxon (?) game. Your exposition is very sharp and detailed, the colours have high saturation. Good action (but this time a bit slow motion:)) shot with beautiful building in the background. TFS.

very good scene, very dynamic photos, but somehow you have too much green tone that can be seen in the sky, try to fix a little in Photoshop. I like the texture of clouds.

the strength of the colours brings out the warmth of the day.

Dear Han, hope you are doing good! What a bright and clear shot here. Looks very crisp. The building is looking charming with all it's bright and lively color and architecture. And yes, adding two ladies while playing was a great idea!!

A great old building for photography, think I have one of this somewhere here in my gallery...when Janice, Pam and I had the girls weekend away in Rotorua...nicely composed, and great natural colours.

I just love this building. Always so photogenic, and the crochet players might have understood you if you'd shouted it in Maori Hans.
It is a beautiful place to wander around. Did you get to the lakeside and see all the bird-life - ducks, shags, coots, etc?
I'm hoping to go back there this April with Chantelle and the little girls.

I can imagine the thought process of the ladies "Go All Blacks? Can't he see we're wearing white?"
Nice shot, definately the sort of thing I'd expect to see in a tourist brochure. Colours are rich and details sharp all through the frame. Great stuff!

The tower is a bit close to the frame ,but for the rest a superbe piece of Victorian-Kiwi culture!
