[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The last time this old Shell bowser was used, petrol most probably cost less than a bob a gallon.*
We made the most of the stunning lighting we have been having lately, the sun is staying low in the sky all day (albeit short) long.
This was taken at a 'Yesterdays Treasure Museum' on the road into Paeroa on the Hauraki Plains.

* A bob was a shilling, or ten cents in decimal currency.
At around $1.70/litre, today, prices compare.
At 4.55 litres to the imperial gallon, petrol costs $7.74 per gallon.

An old 'Shell' sign is in the workshop.

probably not the most exciting subject to take but a well taken photo and interesting comment.

Hi Pete,
Looks like it could do with a quick dust to get rid of the cobwebs, lol. Interesting old piece of history, well before my time I'm afraid. Great focus and clarity with this shot, the crop works well. I'll think of this photo the next time I'm pumping gas, might take my mind off the ridiculous price I have to pay per litre..

TFS,
Scott.

Olá Peter,
Nice composition. Great photometry.
A good document.
Abraço e parabéns,
Raimundo

I love the detail and the rust. Great colors!! Have a nice Sunday. TFS

This probably would have been gravity fed or a manual pump. I can remember these, I'm sure we had this type of hand piece on uour farm tank. Love the rich rust colours, nice piece of nostalgia, thanks Pete.
