This is Tolaga Bay wharf, Tolaga Bay, East Coast, North Island, New Zealand... built between 1926 and 1929.. and runs 660 metres out to sea....The wharf is now only used for local fishermen and tourists to take a walk. At the moment it is closed due to reconstruction.

Captain Cook landed in this bay between 24 -30 October 1769.

The day was rather drab (no sun).. so i added just a little colour to the sky with Picassa.. graduated tint.... and sharpened.

PLEASE See workshop for another view..looking underneath the wharf.. out to sea.

(Out of greens.. like you ! )

but here are the points ! (*&*)

Heya Dawn! :)
I loved these wharf when I was there.. TfS!!
I think I would have chosen a different angle to make it more diagonal... but still keep those reflexion on the sand!!! :))
About colours....hmmm... I did a workshop for you !! just to see it differently :)
cheers
ToM

I was thinking that the wharf was standing up quite well, and then I read your notes. It is closed, but are they really working on it renovating it? It is years since we were there, and it is on the 'must do again' list...
Good POV from underneath Dawn, and the sky colours make it look like sunset on a cloudy day, so good job! TFS.

Hi Dawn,
now this is great!
Excellent POV & DOF. Adding the graduated tint was a clever idea. It's a major disapointment at times when the sky is not on it's good behaviour.
Did you atleast wet your feet? The water looks great :)
Well done :)

Hi Dawn

I like the superb reflections, linear perspective, & strong compositional diagonal. Good work!

Pastel warm colours. Depth in reflections, geometric shapes to draw the eye along.

I like this shot.

Both angles are awsome, I really like the one that is underneath the wharf. It's great to see different piers and wharfs. LOVE IT

I like the composition, not sure about the Magenta highlight tint though, looks kind-of un-natural to me.

Lots of nice details and geometries\patterns in the support columns.
