Hi Sue, I have seen such huge congregations of birds on powerlines in the early evening, just like this! I love the silhouettes created, emphasizing the birds' various poses, the way the lines lead the eye throught the photo, and the tones and colors in the sky. I would only suggest not making the photo too empty on the top half while having the lower half filled with subjects. One good way to solve this and to create balance is to let the lines run somewhat diagonally through the shot. Really wonderful use of natural soft backlighting though and great idea, well-seen. This reminds me of my photo Because Birds Like Jack in the Box Too, it has a similar idea and effect. TFS!

Trade you these ones for the galahs I have had for the last few years, noise takes on a whole new meaning around them. They do look good with a mixed sky behind them not just plain blue.

Hi Sue,
A cute shot, nice and crisp in focus. They look a bit like musical notes on a stave. The lighting is great for this. Something about the balance is not quite right tho', maybe 3 or 5 birds would work better instead of 4.
