today we went on a steam train from Feilding to Ohakune for a birthday surprise for my husband. Only we got no further than Taihpe because a goods train had derailed ahead of us. A four hour wait in Taihape, but it was still fun. These old engines are really a terrific sight

Great work! I love the light and the sharpness here, the colours are exquisite - red, black, earth tones and grey.

If you had the time and inclination, it wouldn't be a bad idea to clone out the distracting elements - the street-light on the left, the overhead wires, etc.

But overall this is great work

Nice photo, one gets a great sense of power from this.

Hi Sue,
Great shot, I love these old steam engines, great colours and sharpness but I agree with Rew about the light and cable so have done a WS for you, hope you dont mind.
Tfs Andy

Hi Sue,
Fantastic shot of the old steam locomotive, you captured it in all it's glory. well done. We heard on the radio Saturday morning about the steam train to national Park from Auckland. We were tossing up as to book or not. After seeing this I think we will.
I've posted a workshop, removing the overhead wires and light, it gives your image a timeless look, I hope you like it.
Regards,
Peter.
PS: Sorry I missed the insulators on the right hand side in my workshop, I'll redo it tomorrow.

Very nice shot and well composed Sue. There is a lot of power in this image, and the good placement and framing of the old engine shows just that. I see a nice contrast between the steam and the dark smoke coming off the stack at the top. Good light and nice colours to complement this good quality image. Great job!

Roberto

How typical of you, another strong shot, it really gives the sense of unstoppable power and i really like the contraste between the black metal and the steam, very holliwoody, well done again.
