[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo at the Feilding Steam Traction Engine Society. The engine is being worked on by it's owner Steve McCloonie. The engine has had a very colourful history. It was one of 3 stream traction engines brought to NZ in the early 1900s, specifically for the task af hauling timber to be exported to England to be used on the Titanic as fitting inside the ship. Fortunately the Engine has had a much better fate over the years and is still in going order.

I thought I'd keep the new things colour and make the old things sepia toned.

I selected the man, inverted the selection then changed hue and saturation till I got the effect I wanted.

Very nice Sue, I think the effect you have created here is great. Its a real working photo and you have captured the engineer in his natural environment. Informative note too. Well done

John

Hi Sue,
I like the way you handled this photo, I tried to desaturate the whole pic. except the worker, but your version works way better here :) TFS
cheers

Excellent captured Sue, its a real work life photo you taken, oh yes, the colours tone is great too! Very well done my friend... very well done, thanks for sharing... :)

Hi Sue,

Great composition and subject. I would love to see more of the engines, as they make a great subject. Another thought would be b&w, primarily because of the subject matter. Great job.

Charles

Well done

Hi Sue
Impressive PP work you did here .... love it
it seems pretty pain staking the job to select the person .. you have my A+ for this shot
cheers ... Sarju

big tools for big toys ;-)
i thought we may be inside on of those from the thumbnail
the light from the flash was quite well managed
we get a good view of his face and hands at work

Sway thank you for share this foto with US. I like old machinery, old building and antiques. This picture said a lot about the past, I also like the black tones in contrast with the person showed in the Photo. Nice work.

Hi Sue, This is a great image. I like the concentration on his face, the action with the tools and the complexity of the machinery. I did not realise Your sepia pp until I read your notes, it has been very well done, and is subtle. A real 'men at work' shot! Good job, Karey.
