deMolen Windmill – Foxton
The deMolen Windmill is located at the south end of Main Street in Foxton, just two blocks west of State Highway One. It was opened on 13 April 2003 and since then has become a huge Foxton attraction and very much part of the Foxton community. The windmill was built and is managed by volunteers from within the Foxton community, and it is run by a charitable trust organisation. This very special Dutch windmill attracts visitors from all over the world. There is really nothing in New Zealand that comes close to the deMolen experience. International tourists, various organisations, schools and even the locals love visiting the Dutch Windmill. The windmill also acts as a local information centre site for Foxton, making it the town’s main icon and feature.
I had to make a close crop for this photo as the windmill is surrounded by other buildings that spoilt the perspective. |

Hey Ralph,
Nice shot of this windmill, don't see that kind of thing in Auckland. Nice perspective. I feel as if the colours are a tiny bit pastel like though, so I did a quick contrast boost as a workshop. Will have to see this for myself one day.
TFS,
Scott.

Hi Ralph, I agree with Scott, and he is about right on with his workshop. I've taken a few shots of that myself.
It is a fascinating sight, you were lucky to have all four sails operating. It is usually too windy, and they will only use two.
Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Ralph
Nice shot of the windmill and interesting note.
Shame that you had to crop so close due to the other buildings.
Not too sure about the frame though.

Nice shot! I had no idea that something like this even existed in NZ. I agree with Scott, to me the colours are a bit hazy too- not enough contrast. I do like the frame though, it makes it feel like a postcard! Very appropriate when the subject of the photo is a major tourist attraction...Well done and TFS
Cadi
very good framing as well as the border effects, like it!
