Is the oh-so-central placement of subject deliberate, here?

This basically breaks all the 'rules' of good photography - the horizon is in the centre of the frame, the subject is in the middle of the photograph - so I have to wonder if it was an attempt to do something inventive by defying the norm?

To be honest, it kinda works. It creates a good sense of space and location.

The metering, details, and saturation are all good too.
