This is the Wanganui River looking west towards the River mouth and the Pacific Ocean. The photo was taken from the Durie Hill lift tower.
The Wanganui River is the longest navigable river in New Zealand. The river was extremely important to early Māori as it was the southern link in a chain of waterways that spanned almost two-thirds of the North Island. It was one of the chief areas of Māori settlement with its easily fortified cliffs and ample food supplies. Legends emphasise the importance of the river and it remains sacred to Wanganui iwi.

Hi Ralph,
Awesome view, the thin horizon at the top of the frame works well. The topaz adjust seems to make the bushes and distant buildings appear a little un-sharp here, the exposure looks good throughout however. A slightly higher aperture may have helped.
TFS,
Scott.
Nice. My experience of Wanganui is brief - an overnight on a motorbike road trip - but I did like what I saw. (Maybe partly to do with the fact that it had been a long day in the saddle from Christchurch.)
Good job with the post-treatment, good sharp detail and great placement of that horizon.
